Despite the challenges that the organisers were faced with in making the Miss KwaNdebele Teen 2014 a success, Simphiwe Ngwenya was nevertheless proudly crowned at the Sheldon Lounge in KwaMhlanga earlier this month.
The crowning comes after the 14 finalists were taken to Pretoria for an ice-skating excursion and an opportunity to have fun by engaging in different activities.
Jabulile Skosana was crowned 1st Princess and Prudence Mahlangu was crowned 2nd Princess.
Thandi, the managing director and organiser of the event said: “It was not easy putting this event together because some of the sponsors dropped us along the way. As much as I expected to benefit financially from the event, that did not happen. Instead I had to use every cent I had to give the finalists fun and exposure and to give winners decent prizes.
Sponsors were Sheldon Lounge, Mahlangu Guest House, Siphosezwe Masango and Bucks Mahlangu.
“One thing I’ve learnt from this pageant was that one is stronger than you thought you’re, because I nearly gave up on making it a success. But with the strength that I have, I’ve managed.
“I’ve also learned that you cannot organise an event without a budget and rely on sponsors,” warned Thandi.
