The Ridge hosted an Afrotainment Night in eMalahleni featuring a group of musically acclaimed artists under the Afrotainment record label on Saturday, September 5.

Owner and producer of Afrotainment,  Mthokozisi Khathi, affectionately known as DJ Tira brought his musical flair to The Ridge and shared the stage with BIG NUZ, the well-known and highly celebrated Durban-based kwaito group, and Sifiso Mjoli also known as DJ Fisherman, who never disappoints in a live performance. They kept the good tunes coming in.

Residents of eMalahleni and surrounding areas were given the opportunity to pay their respects to the late Sbusiso “R Mashesha” Khoma who passed away on Friday, August 7.

Afrotainment ensured the fans had a good night, and acknowledged various Southern African artists and played their songs during the event, including BIG NUZ’s second album called “2nd Round Knockout”.

The album was a chart topper and sold over 20 000 copies in South Africa. The album won the award for the Best Kwaito Album at the 2008 METRO FM Awards and received a nomination at the 2008 Channel O Music Awards.

In August this year BIG NUZ released their latest album “For the Fans” receiving rave reviews from fans and critics alike. They performed various songs from their albums, including the latest single “Osisi Bendawo” which was the most anticipated song that got everyone singing and dancing.

The group consists of super talented trio namely, Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, Mzi “Danger” Tshomela and until recently, the late Sbusiso “R Mashesha” Khoma.

Supporting acts on the night included up and coming acts, such as Amenisto from Gagasi 99.5FM, Makokorosh (Senzo Langa), Sizwe Nkomazi and Phlysoul.
